Conclusion
Since the second year of the CyberPatriot competition, CAP has consistently done well in competing up through the National Finals, to include being recognized as the National Champion in two of the first nine years of the competition. The NCCyP recognizes, however, that the experience of most squadrons hasn’t been one of sustained success and often because of lack of information and help, may have not even gotten off the ground.
It is the sincere desire of the NCCyP to change that reality. This CyberPatriot Playbook is the beginning of that effort. Establishing a CyberPatriot team does take planning and dedication. This playbook is intended to make that planning and dedication pay off.
Over the next several years, the NCCyP will continue to add resources and training material to foster improved success for CAP squadron competing in CyberPatriot. The NCCyP would also like to get your feedback on improving this document and in developing other tools and resources to foster greater success; feedback can be submitted to Lt. Col. Paul Creed III at pcreed@cap.gov. The NCCyP also has a Slack team for CAP Cyber Programs as well as a dedicated channel, #cyberpatriot-playbook, for the CyberPatriot Playbook; contact Lt. Col. Paul Creed III at pcreed@cap.gov for access.
CyberPatriot is an exciting and growing program. In the eight years the NCCyP Team members have been involved, we have seen cadets who have worked hard earn scholarships and secure internships with companies across the country. Many of these high school interns are out performing their college intern counterparts who have no practical experience with the technology or team dynamics. We on the NCCyP look forward to working with you to identify and train our country’s future Cybersecurity Professionals.
